Here are some symbols on P&ID : So, those are some of the symbols that we will often see when reading piping & instrument diagrams. May be useful.
Basic Comparison of Autocad Operations Using Drawing Tools and Command Aliases
Hello friends, here I will explain some of the basics of operating AutoCAD for beginners and on this occasion I will use the 2017 version of AutoCAD.
For the first step, of course, we have to install this software on your PC or laptop, yes, then please open Autocad and for the initial display it looks more or less like this,
more or less like this the initial appearance, then please select and click the start drawing menu to start using the autocad.
This is how the initial worksheet looks like, here we are able to use this autocad.
For starters I will start from how to operate autocad using the drawing tool. In this drawing tool we will get several main commands for drawing an object, including:
1. Straight Line
2. Continuous Line - Polyline
3. Circle
4. Curve
5. Rectangle
6. Elips
7. Shading
8. Etc
For the next we will enter the command to modify an object, among others:
1. Move
2. Rotate
3. Cut
4. Extend
5. Copy
6. Mirror
7. Erase
8. Fillet
9. Extrude
10. Scale
11. Offset
12. Etc
Actually, there are still many commands in AutoCAD and the number can be up to hundreds, which I have just explained above are only some of the main commands.
In addition to using the drawing tool, we can also use commands by using the keyboard as the command.
This command is a command to create objects or modify commands by typing commands or command aliases, the method is very easy, just by typing the code for each command + enter/space. Here are some examples of commands using command aliases:
1. Line : ketik L + enter/space
2. Polyline : ketik PL + enter/space
3. Circle : ketik C + enter/space
4. Curve : ketik ARC + enter/space
5. Rectangle : ketik REC + enter/space
6. Elips : ketik EL + enter/space
7. Hatch : ketik H + enter/space
8. Move: ketik M + enter/space
9. Rotate : ketik RO + enter/space
10. Trim : ketik TR + enter/space
11. Extend : ketik EX + enter/space
12. Copy : ketik CO + enter/space
13. Mirror : ketik MI + enter/space
14. Erase : ketik E + enter/space
15. Fillet : ketik F + enter/space
16. Stretch : ketik S + enter/space
17. Scale : ketik SC + enter/space
18. Offset : ketik OF + enter/space
19. Etc
Example using command aliases
Let's take the example of the command to create a circle
Step 1 : type the "C" key on your keyboard
Langkah 2 : enter/space
Step 3: select the point that will be used as the center of the circle according to our wishes
Step 4: enter the diameter of the circle that we will make or with a free size, if we want to enter the diameter of the circle type "D" + enter/space on the keyboard and then enter the diameter number (usually the size is drawn using millimeters "mm"
Complete command to use command aliases
From the example I have given above, surely you are curious about what commands are in AutoCAD, especially if we use command aliases, to find out you can select & click the "express tool" menu in the menu bar
Then select "command aliases"
Here we can check what aliases are in AutoCAD
Advantages & Disadvantages Between Drawing Tool And Command Aliases
This review is just sharing from my experience when using AutoCAD and it can be very subjective.
So when using the drawing tool, we definitely use the mouse a lot to move the cursor back and forth between the worksheet and the drawing tool menu so it will take a lot of time during the drawing process, whereas if we use the cursor aliases command we can focus only on the worksheet so it will be more time efficient. but if you use command aliases then you will memorize a lot of commands in autocad.
So the choice is entirely up to you, it all depends on your drawing style.
