Difference Between MCB And MCCB
Maybe we've often heard the terms MCB and MCCB, but do we know the difference between MCB & MCCB?
1. Current Rating
The first difference is in the current rating, for MCB the current rating is only up to about 63A, while for MCCB it can be up to 1000A or more. So the usage is different, yes, if the MCB is usually used for small loads or loads, while the MCCB is usually used for large loads.
2. Price
The second is the issue of price, MCB is much cheaper than MCCB.
3. Trip Level
The third is from the trip level, if the MCB trip level is fixed, namely at the maximum current capacity listed on the MCB body, while the MCCB trip level can be adjusted.
4. Interupting Capacity
The fourth difference is the interrupting capacity, the interrupting capacity itself is the maximum limit for the resistance of the current that passes through the MCB or MCCB, meaning that if there is a current that exceeds the interrupting capacity limit, the MCB or MCCB will be damaged. Example of MCB 63A 10kA, meaning that if the MCB is passed by a current of 10kA or 10,000A, the MCB will be damaged and cannot be used anymore.
5. Under Trip Voltage
Under trip voltage, under trip voltage itself is MCB or MCCB will trip if the voltage is lost. For MCB, there is no under trip voltage capability, yes, while MCCB does. Therefore, if one day the voltage flowing to the MCCB is lost, the MCCB will trip automatically.
6. Shunt Trip
Shunt trip is the opposite of under trip voltage which is usually an external factor.
7. Use
For its own use, MCBs are commonly used at home, industry and commercial, while MCCBs are only used in industry and commercial use.
Thus a brief discussion about the difference between MCB and MCCB, hopefully it will be useful.
